Brilliant cottage, excellent facilities. Lovely walks right from our
doorstep
. Please feed the birds over the balcony, especially the
pheasants who wait for you every morning.

This is our 15th visit to Dalegarth our second home. Many
thanks, yet again to David and Susan and family for their welcome &
hospitality; & also to their helpers for their part. It is always a
pleasure & privilege to be here.

" … ..
Had a brilliant week in a brilliant place." - Lee (9), Upminster
We were looking
forward to our 19th visit to Dalegarth walking, fresh air
etc. when disaster struck. The female of the species off to hospital
appendix out!! (not supposed to happen when youre a pensioner) But
only 2 weeks later we were here what better place to convalesce? So
the holiday was different lots of rest meals in the local pubs (The
George & White Lion, Cray in particular). Once again Dalegarth works
its magic and I am going home much better than when I came. See you
next year, Susan & David.

Whenever I want to recharge my battery and unwind – I think of

You may like
to have this - I shall send you the next stanza after the next
20th visit:
Dalegarth
If you
should ask me why I like this place
I'd find it
hard to say it's just this or that
And simply tell you things you're sure to know -
That someone here know how to clean a house
And sees to it that each thing has its space,
And, what is more, that we shall find it there
Just
where we we left it many months ago.
But there is more to living in a house
Than knowing where the knives and forks are kept
Or wishing that the postman sometimes called,
Just
give it time - say, twenty years or so.
In twenty years a thousand feet have come
In search of what a second home can bring -
A quiet place to sit, plum blossom out,
The river winding in its pebbled bed,
With Swaledale sheep adream by dry-stone walls
And up in air a skylark on the wing.
