We are delighted to announce that each of our cottages has again been recognised by VisitEngland with a rating of Four Star Self-Catering, greatly enhanced by their Gold Award (“for exceptional quality of accommodation and customer service”), for 2018.
Just as we began to celebrate, TripAdvisor added their Certificate of Excellence to each of the properties. We’re in danger of becoming insufferable!
Seriously, we know that bricks and mortar are only part of the story; location plays a great part too, but we place huge store in the professionalism and dedication of ‘Our Ladies’ who prepare the cottages.
So, what have been the Rewards? Well, the weather for one thing; it has been the best spell we can remember over the past 39 years. Recently, one of our grandchildren accompanied Granddad to the summit of Buckden Pike, diverting to view the lead mine. The clear skies highlighted the long distance views. Some 500 yards from the trig. point is a spot from which you can see both the North Sea and the Irish Sea, making it a unique location.
Many in Buckden ‘walk the triangle’ as part of their regular exercise – on our trip recently, we were rewarded by the sight of two adult herons perched high in a tree, in the centre of a meadow. A simple sight hereabouts, but still a precious moment.
